agree it's crap have defended it
Huthwaite. Wipe your feet.
It changed its name to get rid of the nickname. The mud on Main Street brought it back.
Huthwaite used to be called Hucknall, and people called it Mucky Huckna. So it changed its name. Now the building site lorries spread mud all down Main Street, the sweepers can't shift it, and it's mucky again. It also has Strawberry Bank, which some locals swear is the highest point in Nottinghamshire and everyone else wants to argue about.
The muck isn't only on the road. The sewers overflow for 8.6 times as long as the typical town's. Fires get started on purpose at 2.5 times the typical town's rate, mostly bins, and the air is over the World Health Organization's guidelines on both counts. Old pit and hosiery town. The pits and the hosiery have gone. The bookies haven't.
