Lively, in a bad way.
A village that's turned into a strip of bars, with broken glass and taxi queues to match.
Wickersley used to quarry grindstones for the Sheffield cutlers. Now Bawtry Road is bar after bar after bar. At closing time the drinkers hang about bellowing, the pavements are covered in broken glass and the taxis queue down the road. The proper shops have been pushed out.
Nearly half the place lives more than 400 metres from the nearest park or playground, so it's Wickersley Wood or another bar. Lloyds and NatWest have both gone. The kitchens are spotless, to be fair, so at least the kebab on the way home won't finish you off. The fly-tippers do the rest of the village.
