Werrington. Up a hill near Stoke.

A windmill on the hill, heathland round it, and Stoke down below to feel good about.

Werrington sits on a hill above Stoke with a windmill that ended up grinding coal, which is about the most Staffordshire thing a windmill could do. Low crime, nobody fly-tips, heath out on Wetley Moor and Stoke spread out below to feel smug about.

It rains on 158 days a year up here. There's no public park, so over half the village lives more than 400 metres from anywhere to take the kids, and the kids are stuck indoors watching it rain. The last bus on a Wednesday goes at 8.43pm. Nobody's going down to Hanley for a night out anyway.
