Give it a year, it'll be Reading
Villages outside Reading that are slowly being turned into housing estates.
Spencers Wood and Three Mile Cross were proper villages once, and somebody even wrote a whole book about Three Mile Cross called Our Village. Now they're being buried under new estates for Reading commuters, with the schools and doctors lagging behind and Church Lane flooding.
There are 3.3 times the typical town's play spaces per head, so the new estates have swings. They've got 2 pubs and that's it: not a barber, not a bookie, not a Greggs, and no pool. It'll be Reading soon enough.
