Brinsworth. Lorries. More lorries.
Brinsworth had a Roman fort. Now it's got lorries, fly-tipping and Bawtry Road at a standstill.
Brinsworth sits between Sheffield and Rotherham, which is nobody's idea of a good spot. The Romans had a fort here and even they didn't stay. Now it's lorries for the industrial units rattling past front windows, Bawtry Road jammed every rush hour and a junction at Whitehill Lane people dread.
You can taste it, too. The nitrogen dioxide's over half as much again as the typical town's, and the fine particles are up there with it. Nobody smashes much up, to be fair, and nearly every house can get gigabit broadband, so you can stay in with the windows shut. There's no park on the map and no swimming pool. There's the lorries.
