Where the hell is Pheasey?

A big estate on Barr Beacon that most people only know from the front of a bus.

Pheasey is a big estate on the side of Barr Beacon, and most people only know it as a word on the front of a bus. The locals reckon they're Brummies. The council tax bill says Walsall. The streets are all named after artists and engravers, which is about as much culture as the place has seen.

It's quiet. Anti-social behaviour barely registers and nobody shoplifts. But the air's filthy for somewhere halfway up a hill, with nitrogen dioxide at 1.7 times the typical town's, and two thirds of the estate lives more than 400 metres from a park or a swing. Some idiot's taken to setting fire to things outdoors instead. The buses run till gone 1am, so at least you can get out.
