Still upset about a pagoda
Woodley built houses on its airfield and knocked down its pagoda. People are still upset.
Woodley used to have an airfield and build aircraft, and now it's mostly houses, plus a museum about the aircraft. Crime's less than half the typical town's. The shopping precinct is tired, the flats above the shops are shabby and they charge you to park.
And they knocked down the little pagoda in the precinct, which some locals still haven't got over. Lloyds and NatWest have shut their branches since. Nobody's blaming the pagoda. Not out loud.
