Empty stalls, tired market
There's a fossil coral reef in the old quarry. It's got more life than the market.
South Elmsall, or Emsull, has a fossil coral reef in the old quarry and Frickley Athletic, which is about it. The market is empty units and tired stalls, the whole place feels run-down and there's nothing to do. The old pit's a country park now. That's the nice bit.
Then there's the smell. There's been 21 serious pollution incidents round here since 2016, and 12 of them were landfill odour. Things go up in flames at five and a half times the typical town's rate, burglary sits at nearly two and a half, and the vandalism's nearly twice. South Kirkby will tell you Emsull's worse. For once they're right.
