Pavement's in the hedge somewhere
Stone villages between Halifax and Bradford, with queues at Stump Cross and pavements lost in hedges.
Shelf and Northowram dug coal and stone out of the hills between Halifax and Bradford. Now they mostly sit in traffic. Stump Cross is a queue, the new houses bring more cars, and the pavements are so overgrown you end up walking in the road. Not clever, because serious crashes run at nearly twice the typical town's rate.
Locals moan the buses are useless, and they leave nearly three times as often as the typical town's on a Sunday, which tells you how bad the queues are. You get rain on 161 days a year. Shelf's library shut in 2021. Nobody kicks off, to be fair. They're all stuck in traffic.
