Mention Shirebrook and stand back
Old pit town. The carnival doesn't last long enough to make up for the rest of the year.
Market Warsop is an old pit town between Mansfield and Shirebrook, and it'll tell you it's better than Shirebrook before you've asked. It has a carnival, the Carrs down by the Meden and a crossroads everybody drives straight through. The shops are a bookie, a couple of charity shops and not a lot of choice.
Some idiot's always setting fire to the bins, and the fire brigade gets called to deliberate fires at 1.8 times the typical town's rate. There's next to no public park per head, the old pool shut in 2018 and isn't being replaced, and the skate park gets complaints for being too noisy. At least something's going on.
