Still no bloody station.
Haxby's been campaigning for a railway station for years. It's got scarecrows instead.
Haxby is a big village outside York that's been banging on about getting a railway station for years. Still hasn't got one. People are already moaning about commuters parking outside their houses for a station that doesn't exist. The level crossing holds everyone up, and every so often the place fills up with scarecrows. Living the dream.
Crime's about a third of the typical town's, so the scarecrows are the scariest thing in it. The internet's the real moan. 22.6% of homes can't get gigabit broadband, on the edge of York. Barclays shut in 2022, there's no swimming pool, and nearly half the village is more than 400 metres from a park. Still no station.
