Glossop. Snake Pass is shut again.
Lovely hills, old mills, and the only road out has closed. Again.
Glossop's nice, which is annoying. Stone cottages, old mills, the Peak right there. The problem is getting in or out. Snake Pass shuts, Woodhead shuts, and the rest of the time you crawl. Locals are convinced Buxton gets all the money. And they think Hadfield's a dump.
There's rain on 172 days a year and the sun barely bothers, so Glossop has done the sensible thing and stuck to the pub. There are 23 of them, and 1 public park. Charity shops come in at 2.8 times the typical town's rate, Lloyds and NatWest have gone, and the storm overflows spill at 1.7 times the typical rate. Not one dodgy kitchen, mind. Somebody's staying in.
