The village pub turned into a Tesco Express. That's the big news.
Countesthorpe's village pub turned into a Tesco Express, and that's about the biggest thing that's happened here. Nobody vandalises anything, nobody sets fire to anything, and the police mostly hear about off-road bikes buzzing round the fields. More houses keep going up with nothing to go with them.
The one thing it does badly, it does properly. The overflows run for five times as long as the typical town's, so the streams get everything the village is too polite to mention. In winter the kids sledge down Penny Hill, which is a heap of old railway spoil. That's the excitement.
