That bloody ring road
Stourbridge made beautiful glass. Then it built a ring road round itself like a moat.
Stourbridge made famous cut glass, has a little train that does nothing but shuttle between Town and Junction, and a ring road so frightening people drive miles out of their way to avoid it. The town centre sits in the middle like it's been put in a pen.
The kitchens are where it really goes wrong. Six of the 35 rated takeaways score 0 to 2, more than four times the typical town's share, and the rest of the food trade isn't much better. Some knobhead's setting the bins on fire, and more often every year. The Glassboys play Halesowen in a derby named after the bus that runs between them. It's the most exciting thing that bus has ever done.
