They found gold, then built houses on it

They found a gold hoard while building houses. They've been building houses ever since.

Ravenshead is a posh village on the edge of Sherwood Forest that found a hoard of medieval gold while building an estate. Since then it's just kept building estates. It used to be three hamlets, Fishpool, Larch Farm and Kighill, and now the locals moan it's turning into a town. They're not wrong.

Crime is a fraction of the typical town's. Nobody vandalises anything, nobody shoplifts, nobody so much as raises their voice. The danger is on the main road, where the bad crashes happen at 2.1 times the typical town's rate, the right turns are a nightmare and the road markings vanished after the resurfacing. It's the quietest place going, right up until you try and pull out.
