Got something to say about Haverfordwest? Write in.

Shops going. Pubs staying.

A castle, an old gaol, empty shops, and nothing to do but shop and get pissed.

Haverfordwest is Pembrokeshire's county town, and there's a castle to prove it. Under the castle it's empty shops and a town centre dying on its feet. They got rid of the multistorey, so you can't even park. Locals say there's nothing to do but shop and drink, and the shops are going, so guess.

Crime comes in at nearly two and a half times the typical town's rate and criminal damage at nearly three times. The last bus home is at 8.44pm, so nobody's leaving either. It rains on 164 days a year and the storm overflows go off for eight times the typical town's hours. Longnecks, they call themselves. Keep your head down.
