Brynteg. Where did the pubs go?
Pits gone, steelworks gone, pubs gone. The Memorial Centre's still open.
Brynteg grew up round the pits and the steelworks, and when those went the pubs followed. The map's got 1 left. Locals still give directions by the ones that shut years ago, so you'll be lost by the second turning. The Memorial Centre keeps the place going.
It rains on 155 days a year and the sewage goes into the river, same as everywhere else round here. The buses are good, mind, with nearly half as many again after dark as the typical town. Handy, since the pub you were told to turn left at is somebody's house now.
