No trains, plenty of pubs.
Horbury built railway wagons for years. Now it can't even get a station.
Horbury used to make woollen cloth and railway wagons, and it's been begging to get its own station back for years. The high street is charity shops and pubs, Storrs Hill is jammed and the rugby crowd parks wherever it likes. Down at the bridge, the sewage goes into the Calder.
The storm drains nearby chuck out sewage for fourteen and a half times as long as the typical town's, and diesel has gone in the water twice. Nearly two thirds of the town lives over 400 metres from a park or a swing, Horbury Hall's officially at risk and there's no swimming pool. There's 14 pubs. They've worked out what to do while they wait for the train.
