Crap Towns / Dumfries and Galloway / Road condition
How bad are the roads in Dumfries and Galloway?
In 2025-26, 33% of Dumfries and Galloway council's A roads, 39% of its B and C roads and 57% of its unclassified roads should have been considered for maintenance. Across Scotland the figures were 30%, 33% and 36%. Ten years earlier, in 2015-16, the figures were 34%, 38% and 59%.
The back roads fall apart all on their own. The A75 needs every lorry for the Cairnryan ferry to manage it.
